About FC Glattal Dübendorf

The FC Glattal Dübendorf (FCGD) is a football club with a heart for youth: founded in 2005, merged in 2012 into today’s FCGD, and since 2020 the first Swiss club to partner with the AC Milan Academy. Our aim is to develop children and teenagers athletically, personally, and socially—with a clear philosophy, modern coaching, and plenty of passion. Coaches and teams benefit from international know-how and a strong local community. This is how we prepare Glattal talents for the pitch and for life.

Club History

  1. Foundation and Early Years

    The club was founded in 2005 by Denise and Claudio Settimio under the name FC Cosenza Dübendorf. Youth development was central from day one. In 2012, the club merged with FC Opfikon to become today’s FC Glattal Dübendorf (FCGD). The club continued to grow while keeping the promotion of young talent as a core goal.

  2. Academy Expansion

    The board continuously considered how to further develop youth promotion sustainably and aimed for a major step forward. In 2019, the club founder presented the “FC Glattal Dübendorf Milan Academy” project to the board. The new president, Antonio Giorgio (in office since 2020), and the entire board were enthusiastic. The project was approved and implemented on July 1, 2020. Already in February 2020, FCGD became the first club in Switzerland to sign a three-year partnership with the Italian traditional club AC Milan (Academy).

  3. Today

    FC Glattal Dübendorf, already guided by its own football philosophy, set out—together with AC Milan—to further advance the personal, social, and footballing development of its players. Coaches also benefit from the collaboration and have ongoing opportunities for education. In June 2023, the contract with the AC Milan Academy was extended by another three years—a clear sign of a successful partnership and shared commitment to youth development.
